A useful distinction
A photograph and a quoted comment can reveal identity and context. Their use should follow a clear permission process appropriate to the people involved and the intended publication. An older permission may not cover a new campaign or a substantially edited statement.
Put it into practice
Keep the source, agreed wording, purpose and permission record together under suitable access controls. Verify them before publication. Avoid unnecessary identification, especially involving children, and obtain the appropriate qualified guidance when the situation requires more than a routine editorial decision.
