A useful distinction
“We plan to hold a workshop,” “the venue is booked” and “the workshop took place” report different stages. Readers should not have to guess which one applies. A public update becomes misleading when future work is written as an accomplished result.
Put it into practice
Sort a draft update into planned, confirmed and completed statements. Check each against the available record before publication. Add the date and identify changes from an earlier plan, so readers can understand progress without an invented impression of certainty.
