A useful distinction
A clear mission statement explains the purpose of the group without pretending that every desirable result has already occurred. It provides a basis for discussing a project’s fit. Abstract words alone may leave participants unsure about what is actually proposed.
Put it into practice
Draft two sentences describing the purpose and the intended activity. Ask another person what work they understand from that draft. Revise vague language before adding an appeal, and distinguish a proposed direction from an established programme with verified results.
